David J. Coutu, President & CEO
Mr. Coutu is President and Chief Executive Officer of MassMutual Asset Finance. Prior to taking on the
position of President and CEO, Mr. Coutu was one of the primary persons that helped create MassMutual Asset
Finance beginning in 2004, focusing on origination, underwriting and portfolio management.
Prior to joining MassMutual Asset Finance, Mr. Coutu was in charge of the national lease origination
activities of Citizens Leasing Corporation (CLC), a commercial equipment finance company that is a wholly
owned subsidiary of Citizens Financial Group (CFG).
Mr. Coutu joined CFG's corporate banking group as a participant in its management training program.
After holding relationship management positions in the areas of corporate banking, asset based lending
and loan syndication, Mr. Coutu joined CLC in 1997. At CLC, Mr. Coutu focused on expanding lease
origination volume through direct and third-party origination channels. During Mr. Coutu's tenure,
assets at CLC grew from $200 million to over $1.5 billion.
Prior to joining CFG, Mr. Coutu was a national account representative for MetLife Insurance.
Mr. Coutu holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Rhode Island with a major in Finance and minor in Economics.
William D. Oberg, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Oberg is the COO and CFO for MassMutual Asset Finance. In this capacity he is responsible for
treasury activities, compliance, tax, finance and accounting.
Prior to joining MassMutual Asset Finance, Mr. Oberg was the Managing Director for the Capital Markets
activities at Fleet Capital Leasing (FCL), a $15 billion commercial equipment finance company that was a
wholly owned subsidiary of FleetBoston Financial (FBF). FBF was acquired by Bank of America in April of 2004.
Mr. Oberg held various senior management positions of increasing responsibility in his 28 years at FCL,
and its predecessor company BancBoston Leasing (BBL), including Managing Director-Capital Markets,
President-Randolph Computer Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of BBL, Chief Financial Officer,
Director of Finance & Operations, and Senior Accountant.
Mr. Oberg graduated from the Boston State College, with a major in Business Management and received his
MS in Accountancy from Bentley College.
John M. Young, Chief Credit Officer
Mr. Young is the Chief Credit Officer for MassMutual Asset Finance. In this role he is responsible
for the underwriting, lease administration and credit quality of the MMAF portfolio.
Prior to joining MassMutual Asset Finance, Mr. Young was a division executive responsible for the
Middle Market Division of RBS Asset Finance a $3 Billion equipment finance company that is wholly
owned by Citizens Financial Group (CFG). In his role as a division executive Mr. Young was responsible
for origination, underwriting and documentation for all transactions.
Prior to joining CFG, Mr. Young held various positions of increasing responsibility with Fleet National Bank.
Mr. Young holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Plymouth State University, an MBA from
Providence College and is a Certified Public Accountant.
John F. Pedro, Senior Vice President
Mr. Pedro joined MassMutual Asset Finance at inception in 2004. In his current role as Senior Vice President he is responsible
for lease originations, marketing, and overall management of new business from origination
through underwriting to closing.
Prior to joining MassMutual Asset Finance, Mr. Pedro was a Vice President at Citizens Leasing Corporation
(N/K/A RBS Asset Finance). He was responsible for national originations,
relationship management, underwriting and portfolio maintenance. While at CLC, Mr.
Pedro originated over $750 million in new business and contributed to the growth
of CLC from $400 million in assets to over $1.5 billion. Prior to joining CLC, Mr. Pedro held lending positions in the Communications
and Large Corporate lending groups at Citizens Financial Group (CFG). Mr. Pedro also held positions in the Special Assets Division
of CFG and Managed Assets Division of Shawmut National Bank in Hartford, CT.
Mr. Pedro holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Finance from Bentley
Caren B. Almada, Operations Manager
Mrs. Almada is the Operations Manager for MassMutual Asset Finance. In this role
she is responsible for managing the booking process of all transactions and is responsible
for overseeing all property/sales tax, UCC filings and insurance tracking of the
